Memorial Day

maybe you think this will last
forever in perfection
unbroken and whole
unwounded and pure
maybe you think this can last
unspoken devotion
untouched and sweet
unwavering and relentless
maybe you know it won't last
so you hold on tight
knowing it will end
before the first tear falls

visiting the cemetery

My grandfather served in World War II. We visited him today. It's been awhile but there's something peaceful about the cemetery. Twas a lovely day-- cool and breezy with a bright sun. I am grateful for my grandfather bringing his family here after the war. If he hadn't, would I even be here? :)

To all who serve and to those who have served, thank you.
